Plays with dirt

the plan...

the booty...

the tool I found buried in the yard...anyone know what this is?

First house. First garden. I decided to start small with a flower garden in the front yard. The back yard shows me more and more each day. There are huge beds of beautiful purple flowers that just "appeared" like magic one day. Then I discovered that the back yard fence is covered with intoxicating honeysuckle! Maybe next year I'll start the vegetable garden.

Me, me, me, meee!

I took a week off in April to visit my family in CT. While there I stayed at Hotel TenEyck which has the best staff and accommodations around. wink, wink...
My sister Carla is truly one gifted photographer. Visit carlateneyck.com to see what I mean. We had planned on a photo shoot to get some shots for my site and finally got the chance on the last day of my visit. The weather was beautiful and so we headed out.
Well, we went driving around looking for a cool spot (the first location was a no go as the cherry trees had not blossomed yet) and came upon this GORGEOUS cemetery in Simsbury. and OF COURSE we had to stop. My kind of place, for sure.
My sister is funny as hell and is always "go, go, go!" and all up in my grill...so this was super fun! Click here to see our session...

ps- Carla, sorry I "broke" your camera!

Busy, busy

earrings: copper, sterling silver, garnet

I have a lot of things to post. Especially since I got back from visiting my family in April. I guess I'll start with jewelry. I have a bunch of "little things" that I've made recently. I have some rings and earrings that I've made with sterling silver, copper, bronze and garnets. I'm loving mixed metals lately. I also made some sweet little earrings in sterling with pops of colorful green and purple cz's and more garnets. I've been photographing them the past few days and still need to edit them. I will be posting these items in my Etsy shop so I'll let you know as soon as that happens.
Here's a peek...

Happy Mothers Day

It's that day again. This will mark the 4th Mothers Day to pass since Mom died in 2006. Sometimes I wish this whole weekend would disappear from the calendar.
I was in CT recently visiting my family. My sister, my niece and I went to Mom's cemetery to visit (and to finally get the info together for a headstone). My niece Georgie is named after Mom. While walking in the cemetery visiting Mayor Mike's grave, sweet little Georgie decided to collect some flowers for Mom's grave. She picked up some fallen magnolia petals and then discovered a dropped iris on the ground. She then carefully arranged them on Mom's grave.
Today I am planting some roses in her honor.

Happy Mothers Day, Mom. Wherever you are...
