Movin and groovin

After the Harry Potter Midnight Magic Party at the bookstore tonight, we'll be waking up early to do the bulk of our move. Yippee! I'm excited to get all unpacked and especially to get my studio in order. I've got so many new things to make!
I'll be doing the house cleansing today; not too soon since I've already seen two ghosts...

Scary Harry (and I'm not talking full frontal Harry!)

We went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday...at the IMAX Theater at the Science Museum (Science!). I swear, if you don't enjoy this magical franchise there must be something wrong with you. Just arriving you could feel the anticipation in the crowd. On our way down to the theater, there was even a staff member with the cutest little owl (maybe 6-8 inches). Once in line, everyone was so excited. There were definitely more nerdy "adults" in line than kids. But those kids had something we didn't have...WANDS! They all had these fancy homemade wands with them; brightly colored ribbons and pipe cleaners and glitter, oh my!
After watching the movie being threaded onto this cool Imax contraption, we were finally let it. This being my first Imax movie, I was very excited. Holy mother of pearl...that was one awesome experience! Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I feel like I still need to see it on a regular screen. I was a little disconcerted at first. I didn't know where to focus my attention- there was so much going on. Science!
It's definitely a dark movie. And for those of us who have read the books, it's only going to get darker. I will say this- I want the hanging plates from Professor Umbridge's office and is it just me or is Ron Weasley growing into a real looker!

On a side note: I will get to use some magic myself. Thanks to our wonderful Wiccan friend (hi M!), I'll be doing a house cleansing based on her instructions. I am psyched!

My new view

Welcome to my new studio. It's a definite upgrade from one window to two, plus the fireplace (non-working) and mantle detail is quite lovely. Plus it's bigger. I can't wait to get all my stuff in there and unpacked. This process should be done within the next two weeks...

8 random things about me

I've been tagged by Mim to write 8 random things about myself. Then I've gotta tag 8 more bloggers. Since the bloggers I know have already been tagged, I'm tagging my sister Carla.

1) I frakking LOVE to swear!
2) My favorite flower is a Dahlia
3) I saw Skylab as it was plummeting to the earth (get in the way back machine folks!)
4) If I wasn't a jeweler, I'd be a mortician or a hospice worker
5) I see ghosts and spirits
6) I was a birthing coach for the birth of my awesome nephew, Jackson.
7) I have never ever wanted a baby...unless I could give birth to kittens!
8) I hate playing games. No board games, no cards, no team sports. The only exception is playing Candyland or Go Fish with the chirrens.

Where's my happy place again?

Forgive my lack of timely posts but we're in the throes of moving to a new apartment. This shit is stressful. Nevermind that we had to pay rent on 2 places this month just to get the place. Plus it's still being painted and cleaned. Ugh. Met some of the neighbors and their dogs though and we like :) Just to add some spice, on the day we were to sign the lease, my car wouldn't start. It needed a new starter. But in order to get the car towed to the mechanic, we had to sit in the sweltering heat for over two hours. An hour after I called, I get a call saying he's on his way. yeah! 20 minutes later...I get a call saying he had to be re-routed to fix a flat tire. COME ON! How the hell is that more of an emergency?! Then 45 minutes later the driver calls...FROM THE WRONG ADDRESS ON THE WRONG SIDE OF TOWN. Jesus H, people. So I left my house at 7:30 am and didn't get home until midnight. The upside? I had a romantic dinner in the parking lot with my husband. Hi honey ;)
Honestly, I can't wait for this month to be over.
